COVID 19 – Opening 8th June

3 June 2020

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health.

You may have heard that dental practices can open to routine care from Monday 8 June.

Our practice will be opening on that day but we just wanted to be clear that this may not be business as usual. The treatments you are offered may be different to those you received before, depending on staff and equipment available. It will take some time before services return to what you previously experienced as normal. Please be patient.

Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our surgery. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable. We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep patients and staff safe.

Our practice follows infection control guidelines made by the governing bodies. We are up-to-date on new guidance that has been issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to recommendations.
Our actions demonstrate a firm commitment to deploying appropriate resources to help maintain a healthy environment for our patients and team members.

We will be providing urgent dental care as follows

* Management of pain
* Management of infection
* Uncontrolled bleeding
* Trauma
* Concerns regarding Oral Cancer

We will be in touch with all patients who have experienced a dental problem during lockdown who are on our priority list.

At this time we are unable to treat those showing symptoms of Covid-19, or those that are self-isolating as another member of their household are showing symptoms. We would ask that those who are sheilded (have recieved a letter from the NHS advising them to stay at home) and to call for advice initially.

Patients can only be seen by appointment in order that we are able to maintain social distancing requirements within the practice. We will ask you to complete a risk assessment and medical history remotely before attending, the link for these will be given to you via text when confirming your appointment 24-48 hours before your appointment.

Before attending the dentist may wish to have a video consultation with you where possible to assess your problem in order to plan your treatment before you attend.

Please travel alone where possible and call the practice on 01327 878758 when you have arrived in the nearest car park and wait in your car, the practice will communicate when they are ready for you.

Please bring your own mask to your appointment and wear this into the practice.

On arrival we will take your temperature, give you hand sanitiser, foot coverings and a clear bag to place your phone and keys in. Prepayment for the treatment will be taken over the phone prior to the appointment. Whilst our personal protective equiptment may make us appear impersonal and distant please be assured that we are the same friendly team underneath it all.

Please keep checking our communications on email, website and social media as we are working tirelessly to support our patients during this time.

Please remember to call us on 01327 878758 or email us on info@daventrydental.com to let us know if you wish to reschedule any of your booked appointments. We would be happy to schedule an alternative date for you.

The Nurse greeting you will guide you through our new system.
