Dental iTero Scanning
What is an iTero scan?
iTero scanners are used to capture pictures inside the mouth, which create a 3D model of the teeth and gums.
Using iTero scanner technology, your dentist or Dental Nurse can create a digital 3D map of your teeth in minutes, which you’ll be able to view in real-time.
If you’re considering Invisalign braces, you’ll even be able to preview your new smile on screen before you start your treatment, using the Invisalign treatment outcome simulator.
What are iTero scans used for?
iTero scanners are commonly used for teeth straightening but can also be used for other restorative treatments including dental implants, crowns, bridges, bleaching trays, retainers and much more.
iTero scans reduce the need for traditional methods such as taking impressions, reducing your time in the dentist chair, and making your treatment experience more comfortable for you as the patient.
What happens during an iTero scan?
Your dentist or dental Nurse will use an iTero ‘wand’ – a handheld scanner to capture over 6,000 images a second of your teeth and gums.
The wand is minimally-invasive, so you’ll be able to breathe comfortably during the scanning process.
We book the scanning session for 30 minutes allowing enough time for the Dentist or Nurse to whereby the 3D model is generated instantly, so you’ll be able to see a detailed scan of your mouth straight away.
